Welcome to DefectDetector.net
Welcome to the DefectDetector.net, home of the largest collection of defect detector audio recordings on the internet with
2743 recordings to date.
We are a group of railroad & radio enthusiasts who wish to preserve
the sounds of the ubiquitous talking defect detectors. While they are often taken for granted, they are subject to the same
obsolescence & ownership changes as any other equipment in the industry, and therefore must be preserved accordingly.
Just as with a locomotive in an old paint scheme or vintage railroad signals, they bring about a sense of nostalgia from
the bygone days of railroading.
If you would like to contribute to our collection, please check out the
Contributing Audio page.
Also check out our
Defect Detector Map, which is still a work in progress with
7213 detectors mapped out so far. If you'd like to help build it up, you can submit defect detectors
to us via this form.
